The Old Camp Gettysburg

Here is the last Lucerne Washington post office. It was in the Lucerne store operated by Oscar Getty. He and his wife Mona operated the small store. Its operation ceased in the 1960s. I don't know when the last mail delivery occured but it was likely in the 1960s as well

Lucerne From The Water, Air and More

GETTY CABINS

Oscar Getty built more than 30 cabins at Lucerne when he was alive. The cabins were first built as a tourist resort but as production at Holden mine increased miners and their families lived there. The five acre area remains in the Getty family today with members of the Chelan Boating Club having access.

UPLAKE FROM DOMKE TRAIL One of the most frequently shown images of Uplake Chelan is the view toward Stehekin from the Lucerne area. Many of the old postards of the lake show that view. Here is a shot from the Domke Lake Trail. I took it also in 2004 on a hike. It is likely from a part of the trail after the "first bench". In the distance, one can see Moore's Point, then further uplake to Stehekin.

LUCERNE FROM LAKE CHELAN AIRWAYS This photo is one I took during an Lake Chelan Airways flight in 2004. It mainly shows the Getty Cabins' area but not the NFS campground. At the photo's far right edge is the Holden Dock where the Lady of the Lake arrives and departs. At the far left edge is the Courtney Barge Dock, where Tom Courtney's barge delivers supplies.
